Investing in Jewellery

Diamonds are an important commodity in anyones investment portfolios.

The increase in price of investment stones increases each quarter. The demand for larger diamonds are on the increase pushing the prices higher as these are becoming very difficult to obtain. Record prices are being obtained for these diamonds year on year.

Diamonds in Colour

These diamonds are very rare commanding a higher price and demand in certain colours than their white counterparts. If you're in the same social circles as celebrities and film stars then exotic diamonds and showcase jewellery investments are for you. Clearly these special diamonds are for the discerning buyer, one who has a passion for the extraordinary  and one who loves to see their investment soar.

Tanzanite

You may believe that Tanzanite is very expensive, more so than diamonds. This is not the case. One always has to compare apples with apples. If you compare a top Diamond with a top Tanzanite you will see that the price difference is enormous. Let's have a look at an example:
A 5.00ct 'D' clarity flawless diamond will set you back a healthy R6,3m today*, whereas the same size and clarity Tanzanite stone will be by comparison a measly R50,000!

It is true that Tanzanite is limited in supply but only in large stones from 10 ct upward, but that is  the same with diamonds, and whereas many could afford a 10 ct Tanzanite very few people in the world will own or could afford a top 10 ct diamond.
